David butterton

David has spent many years building up experience and education surrounding the hospitality and
tourism industry and now enjoys educating tomorrow’s young professionals. Working in key areas of
the industry spanning hotels and restaurants, resorts and airlines, cruise ships and land based real estate
development to mention just a few, David has a significant work based experience to draw from when
training and teaching. Working in education for many years alongside working in business development
roles both in the Europe, North America and Asia, David has successfully blended industry experience
with academic studies which has resulted in a much more informed experience for student learning.
David joined The Academy as a Senior Lecturer in January 2016 and has been a Business Consultant and
Trainer for the past twenty plus years. Originally from the UK, David has worked with organizations in
Europe, Asia and North America and has been a Senior Trainer, Business Professor and Consultant for
much of his career. A hotel owner and Entrepreneur, David understands clearly how understanding the
hospitality industry fits into the current workplace of today. David has worked with global business
organizations which have allowed him to understand from the inside out, a key feature of learning what
does and does not fit. David holds a Master’s Degree in Hospitality and Business and has demonstrated
successfully that the fusion of academic knowledge and work place thinking along with outstanding
behavior can be partnered to launch a successful and rewarding career in the Hospitality and Tourism
Industry.

David believes that finding your passion is the spring board to everyone’s ultimate career success no
