Dr. Millicent Grim is a Specialist Ophthalmologist who established the Gulf Eye Center in Dubai in 2002, following almost 6 year in Muscat, Oman, where she also set up the Eye Surgery Clinic of the first Full service Consultant based Private Hospital in The Sultanate of Oman.

Both of these positions had her introduce new treatment options in Private Medicine with Eye Surgeries not yet done before in both these countries.

 

Her Medical Career followed after Graduating in Medicine and Surgery in 1983 from the University Of Pretoria, South Africa. Internship training to qualify as General Practitioner was followed by Various Medical Officer Posts that took her through further Clinical experience in Obstetrics & Gyneacology, General Surgery, Paediatrics and Anaesthesiology.

 

She chose to Specialize in Ophthalmology at her Alma Mater, and qualified with a Masters in Ophthalmology in 1993 – almost 25 years ago. She remained on the Teaching Staff to run the Eye Department at one of the Teaching Hospitals for 3 years.

Dr Grim worked as a Consultant Ophthalmologist in Dunfermline in Scotland before joining the first comprehensive Specialist Based Private Hospital in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, where she put together the first Private Eye Surgery Department in the country, introducing several new surgeries and treatment options in Private Medicine in the country for Vision Restoration and Correction.

After about 6 years she moved to Dubai to establish Gulf Eye Center in 2002 – 15 & half years ago. The focus is on both Vision Correction and Vision Restoration Surgeries, and General Paediatric and Adult Eye Care, for the foreseeable future.

Myopia Control became an important emphasis and passion in recent years to assist children and Teenagers to arrest their rapid Myopia progression before it reaches a High Risk stage, with customized Ortho-Keratology Treatment. Adults can also use O.K.

Dry eyes is another important area of care in our Climatic work Environment in the city.

Several schools and Therapists refer students to us for vision and eye coordination assessments as part of vision therapy and Learning support to optimize ocular function in the Learning process.
