I am a licensed Canadian Psychologist (Ph.D.) and professor with a passion for supporting families. I work with parents across a range of family, relationship, and well-being issues, as well as those who want to learn new skills. I also consult with government entities, corporations, and schools.
I hold an M.A. and Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Guelph in Canada. I have also received training in therapy services from the Behman Psychiatric Hospital and the University of Oxford (in conjunction with United Arab Emirates University). I recently completed training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction through Bangor University in the UK.
I am a member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association, the Society for Research in Child Development, and the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology. I am also a regular reviewer for top-tier journals.
I work with parents who need support with a range of family, relationship, and well-being issues, as well as those who want to learn new skills. I also work with people who have mild to moderate depression, anxiety, panic, and phobia. I am licensed by the Community Development Authority in the UAE.
I lecture undergraduate students about psychology. Some of the topics we study include parenting, child development, social relationships, and culture.
I am leading a number of local and international research projects about parenting and families, improving happiness, and adjusting to life in a new environment. I have consulted for government entities in the UAE, including the Prime Minister's Office. For more information about my research, click here.
