B.s, M.a

Ms. Trisha Johnson’s career began as a Family and Consumer Science high school teacher where she built a curriculum and program designed for future educators. During her teaching career, Ms. Johnson was twice the recipient of “Teacher-Of-The-Year Runner Up”. As an FCS Educator and as an Advisor for the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America student organization, Ms. Johnson realized that her passion for teaching her students had extended into helping their families and the community. This led to the pursuit of a graduate degree in social work which then allowed her to begin her counseling career.

As a Clinical Out-Patient Therapist, Ms. Johnson provided individual, group and family therapy. Although her clientele was whole family from age 3 and up; her focus was primarily with adolescents. Ms. Johnson describes working as a community therapist as one of the most fulfilling careers that she has held. Although she had one identified client, her work with that client and their household created powerful, positive and long-lasting changes within the entire family dynamic. Ms. Johnson eventually merged her two career passions of teaching and community therapy by becoming a School Counselor. During her school counseling career, she was the recipient of the “Special Education Impact Award”. Although she has worked as a whole school counselor from KG-12, her passion remains with adolescents in high school; focusing on their social and emotional health alongside their academic success in their pursuit of college and their careers.

Ms. Johnson earned her BS in Family and Consumer Science Education from Winthrop University, USA, and her MA in Social Work from the University of Georgia, USA. Ms. Johnson has worked in the states of Georgia and North Carolina within the USA as well as within the emirates of Sharjah and Dubai within the UAE.
